Cop’s wife commits suicide alleging harassment by in-laws in video

LUCKNOW: A woman, wife of a police constable, committed suicide as she was unable to bear the torture of her in-laws. The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. The dead is Saumya Kashyap. The police have received a video of Saumya narrating about the torture she faced from her husband and in-laws.

In the video, Saumya alleged that her in-laws were pressuring her husband to remarry and that her brother-in-law had threatened to kill her. My husband’s uncle is a lawyer. He asked my husband to kill me. He said he will save my husband,’ she said the video is being widely circulated. Meanwhile, the North Lucknow Police has confirmed the woman's death as a suicide.

North Lucknow Police Officer Jitendra Dubey said that senior police officials visited the spot. The woman's family has been informed about the matter. He also said that a forensic examination was conducted at the spot. The police also revealed that the investigation into the woman's death is ongoing.
