NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh's Bajrang Dal leader Jyoti Sharma, in an unabashed warning, threatened to beat up people trying to convert the religion of vulnerable Hindus. Jyothi, while responding to the arrest of two Kerala nuns, explained how she stopped the religious conversion attempt after looking into the Aadhar card of the three girls and the vermillion paste on their foreheads.
Jyothi:
“It is not only the responsibility of the police but also of Hindu Dharma activists to stop them. The nuns were kidnapping girls. We have all the evidence. Those who kidnap Hindus for forced religious conversion will continue to receive belt treatment. The activists and I filed the complaint. The nuns were chanting Hallelujah at the station. I am not part of any party but will continue to forcefully resist such people from setting foot in Chhattisgarh again.”
The incident took place at Durg railway station last Friday. Sister Vandana Francis from Udayagiri parish in Thalassery and Sister Preethi Mary from Elavor parish in Angamaly were arrested. The nuns were detained by a group at the railway station after they doubted the duo's involvement in human trafficking.
The nuns, who work at Fatima Hospital in Agra, had reached Durg railway station to pick up three girls. Before the train reached the station, the station master arrived and asked for platform tickets, which the girls did not have. When inquired further, the girls said that their tickets were with the nuns, but the SM didn’t buy this story. Local activists were informed of the matter, and they stormed to the station to enquire further. This led to a huge protest at the railway station. Later, the nuns and the girls were taken to the police station.
