‘Exhausted like a dog’; Chinese delivery driver opens up about brutal reality of daily life, video goes viral 

A heartbreaking video of a Chinese delivery driver breaking down in tears has garnered attention on social media. In the video posted on Instagram, the youth shares on the intense pressures faced by millions of gig workers across the country. He, who says he never went to university, opens up about the brutal reality of his daily life, delivering food for more than ten hours a day, without rest, security or long-term stability.

‘Now I deliver food for 10 hours a day, exhausted like a dog, and I don't dare slack off even for a second, because the moment I do, life punishes me with an empty stomach. How could I not feel anxious?’ he says in the video. He regrets of dropping out of school. If given another chance, I would definitely study hard instead of dropping out at such an early stage.’

He describes constant physical exhaustion, emotional stress and the guilt of not being able to provide his parents with the life they deserve. He says that he was stubborn and dropped out of school despite his teacher’s warnings.

‘I can give my parents the life they deserve, I can’t even live the life the way I want either. It breaks my heart.’
