WASHINGTON: Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Donald Trump has made a controversial statement declaring that “Iran is dead.” He shared this remark on his social media platform, Truth Social, after warning Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or face attacks on its energy facilities.
In his post, Trump said that after the death of Iran, the United States’ “new greatest enemy” would be the Democratic Party, which he described as “radical left and highly incompetent.” He added a note thanking readers for their attention to the matter.
Trump’s statement came after Iran claimed it had shot down a US F-15 fighter jet. According to Iran, its air defence system destroyed the aircraft near the southern coast of the Strait of Hormuz. However, this claim has not been confirmed by the United States or the Gulf countries.
Earlier, Trump had warned that if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, there would be serious consequences. He said that Iran's energy plants will be destroyed if the route is not fully opened within 48 hours.
