Senior RSS leader AP Bharat Kumar passes away

THRISSUR: Senior RSS worker and anti-Emergency activist A.P. Bharat Kumar (72) passed away on Tuesday. He was a native of Puthishery in Puranattukara, Thrissur.

Bharat Kumar was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thrissur due to illness. He is the son of Cherulath Padmanabha Menon and Idayath Parukuttyamma. Bharat Kumar held many responsibilities in the Sangh and was a victim of police harassment during the Emergency.

He held many positions, including RSS Thrissur District Karyavah, Ernakulam Division Karyavah, State Secretary of Kshetra Samrakshana Samiti, Founding Secretary of Thrissur Ayyanthol Saraswathi Vidyaniketan, Saksham State President, Secretary of Kanattukara Seva Sadanam, Founding Secretary of Advaita Charitable Trust, General Secretary of ESI Employees Union, and President of Peramangalam CRR Varma Smaraka Sanjeevani Prakriti Chitra Hospital. He also served as the State Office Bearer of the Emergency Victims Association. Bharat Kumar had suffered many physical disabilities due to the brutal police torture during the Emergency.

The mortal remains will be taken to Ayyanthol Udayanagar Saraswathi Vidyaniketan from his residence in Puranattukara Puthissery, Thrissur, at 11 am on Wednesday. Public viewing will follow. The funeral will be held at Paramekkavu Santhighat at 1:30 pm.

Bharat Kumar leaves behind his wife Ramani and children Krishnaprasad and Krishnakumar.
