NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that if the Election Commission releases digital voter list data, the Congress will be able to prove that Prime Minister Narendra Modi won through widespread election fraud and bogus voting across the country. He was speaking at the ‘Vote Adhikar’ rally organised by the Congress in Bengaluru.
Rahul demanded that the Election Commission hand over 10 years’ worth of electronic voter list data and video recordings to the Congress party.
“We have already exposed irregularities in one constituency in Karnataka. Modi became Prime Minister with a majority in just 25 seats, many of which had a winning margin of only 30,000 or even less. If we get the digital voter list and video footage, we can show how seats were stolen across India,” he said.
He added that even if the Election Commission doesn’t cooperate, Congress has access to all the necessary paper records and can conduct its own investigation. “It took us six months to uncover the truth in one Karnataka assembly constituency. We will do the same in 20–25 other constituencies. The truth will come out,” Rahul said.
He urged the Karnataka government to investigate the fraud he had earlier revealed in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura constituency. “Officers who added fake voters must be questioned,” he said.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also spoke at the rally, saying that people’s right to vote is being stolen and special rights are under threat. “We must fight with the resolve to ‘act or perish,’” he said.
AICC General Secretaries K.C. Venugopal, Randeep Surjewala, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar also attended the rally.
Rahul rejects Election Commission’s affidavit demand
Rahul Gandhi rejected the Election Commission’s condition that he submit an affidavit and documents regarding the Karnataka poll irregularities. “I have taken an oath in Parliament as per the Constitution. That’s enough,” he said.
"The Election Commission officials should remember that they should work for the Constitution, not the BJP. A time will come when the Commission will have to face the Opposition,” he warned.
Rahul also criticised the Commission for shutting down its websites in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. “They’re scared of people asking questions. They know the whole system will collapse if the truth comes out,” he said.
