NEW DELHI: In a significant revelation, Air Marshal A.P. Singh, the Indian Air Force Chief, has confirmed that India successfully destroyed six Pakistani aircraft, including five fighter jets, during Operation Sindoor. This is the first confirmation from the Indian Air Force chief about the damage caused in Pakistan.
In addition to the five fighter jets, India also took down a Pakistani early warning aircraft, Singh said at an event in Bangalore. He explained that India used its Russian-made S-400 air defence system to shoot down the Pakistani planes. The strikes on Pakistan’s terrorist camps were carried out in response to Pakistan’s actions against India. Singh also mentioned that Pakistan used drones in their counterattacks.
On May 7, India targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan, carrying out 24 strikes in just 25 minutes. The following day, Pakistan launched attacks on 15 Indian cities. India’s strong counterattacks caused significant damage to several sites in Pakistan, Singh added.
Operation Sindoor was launched as retaliation for a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 27 tourists were killed and 20 were injured. The TRF, linked to Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, had taken responsibility for the Pahalgam attack.
