CHENNAI: A graduation ceremony in Chennai witnessed dramatic moments as PhD student Jean Joseph refused to accept her degree from Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi. The student ignored the Governor during the convocation ceremony of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Jean Joseph is the wife of DMK Nagercoil Deputy Secretary M. Rajan.

While each student was receiving their degree from the Governor, Jean Joseph had other plans as she walked straight towards the Vice Chancellor, instead of the Governor. People on stage advised Jean to take the degree certificate from the Governor, but the student shook her head and remained steadfast. The governor was late to understand the motive behind her decision, as he even joined alongside VC Chandrasekhar and Jean to pose for a photo. The video of this went viral on social media.

The public protest from DMK leader’s wife continues amidst the ongoing rift between the ruling party and the Governor in Tamil Nadu. While responding to the issue, Jean opined that the Governor was not doing anything useful for Tamil Nadu and cited this reason behind her ignorance.
