MALAYINKEEZHU: A youngster drowned in the Karamana River on Monday. Vishnu (22) of Peyad Aruvippuram, Kudappanakunnu, died in the incident. The accident happened at around 1 pm yesterday. It is alleged that Vishnu and two other friends, Akshay (18) and a minor boy from Ulloor, entered the water to take a dip.

They choose to swim in an isolated part of the river, infamous for its scary depths. One among them fell into the depths while others raised an alarm. The police concluded that he may have been swept away. The place where the accident occurred is known as Valiyavattom near Kavadikkadav. The Vilappilsala police reached the spot immediately after learning about the incident. The fire force from Kattakada searched and found Vishnu's body at around 4.30 pm. The two people who were with him are in police custody. The Vilappilsala police say that the three of them entered the water after consuming alcohol.

Meanwhile, there is also a rumour that the three jumped into the water while escaping from the police. The veracity of this claim is in question.
