KOZHIKODE: A family has filed a complaint against an acupuncture clinic in Kuttiady following the death of a woman from cancer. The 45-year-old woman identified as Hajira died last Sunday. The family alleged that the clinic treated the woman by hiding her disease. Hajira had been undergoing treatment at the clinic for six months. When her illness worsened, she approached another doctor and it was then she was informed about suffering from cancer.

Hajira went to the clinic for treatment without informing her relatives. A relative told media that they came to know about it only in the last minute. The clinic treated her after making her believe that she would not be cured if she follows allopathy. Her relative said the acupuncturist had told Hajira that if she drinks 300 milliliters of water and eats four dates daily, her disease would be completely cured. The allegation is that no action was taken despite filing a complaint with the police against the clinic in this regard.

The family has submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Veena George, opposition leader V D Satheesan and MP Shafi Parambil demanding that those responsible for the woman's death be brought to justice.
