KOZHIKODE: The family of the 21-year-old woman, who was found dead at her apartment in Eranhipaalam on Sunday night, has alleged foul play. The deceased is Atholi native Ayisha Raza, who lived at Sarovaram Road in Eranhipaalam. Police had earlier taken her boyfriend Basheerudheen into custody in connection with the incident. The family insists that Ayisha did not die by suicide.

Ayisha, a third-year B.Pharm student in Mangaluru, was found dead at her apartment on Sunday night. Her family is alleging that Basheerudeen was responsible for her death. They also questioned how Ayisha, who was studying in Mangaluru, had reached Kozhikode. According to the family, when Ayisha was taken to the hospital, Basheerudheen gave his name as Mubashir. He first claimed to be her husband, but later corrected this and said he was her boyfriend. A relative alleged that Ayisha was trapped by Basheerudheen and that her photos were with him. He alleged that Basheerudheen's intention was to make gains by exploiting her. The relatives also suspect that others may be involved.

Nadakkavu police have registered a case into the incident. The police's initial findings suggest that it was a case of suicide. The post-mortem will take place at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
