Kamal, Rajinikanth teaming up for new movie after 46 years; Lokesh Kanakaraj roped in as director

The big rumour is turning true after actor Kamal Haasan confirmed that he would soon act alongside superstar Rajinikanth. It is being reported that the two will be working together in a film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The announcement of the film is expected to be made soon. Last week, reports emerged that Kamal Haasan's production company, Raj Kamal Films, would be producing the film.

This will mark the return of the two superstars sharing screen space after nearly 46 years. Insiders report that the movie planned is of the thriller/ action genre. Rajinikanth first appeared as Kamal's villain in the 1975 film 'Apoorva Ragangal' directed by Balachander. The duo last appeared on the big screen together in 1979 for the film 'Alavuddeenum Abhadhavilakkum'.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has already worked alongside both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Lokesh directed Coolie starring Rajinikanth and Vikram starring Kamal Haasan. The director recently triggered a debate after he hinted of an early retirement from movies after the completion of the sequel to the super hit movie ‘Kaithi’.
