Former Ranji player Rakesh Pillai passes away in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K Rakesh Pillai (67), a former Ranji Trophy cricketer and Head of IT Department at UAE University, passed away on Sunday. He played three Ranji Trophy matches for Kerala in the 1980-81 season. Rakesh lived at F Street (KRWA-126), Kattachal Road, Thirumala in Thiruvananthapuram.

Rakesh is the son of late Squadron Leader M K Pillai and Vasumathi Pillai. Wife: Meena Pillai of the Thuckalay Ullirippuveedu family. Son: Dr. Shashank Rakesh Pillai (UK) and daughter-in-law Annie Pillai (UK).

The final rites will be held at 10 am on Monday at Thycaud Santhi Kavadam.
