NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi levelled serious allegations against chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He alleged that the chief election commissioner is protecting those destroying the Indian democracy. He said that he has strong evidence for this. He levelled the allegations at the press meet convened at the AICC headquarters in Delhi.
Rahul started the press meet by saying that this is not a hydrogen bomb and that it is just coming. Some have been targeting millions of people to remove their names from the voter list from time to time. They are targeting Dalits, tribals, minorities and OBCs who vote more for the opposition.
Some tried to remove 6018 voters in Karnataka. The one who did this was caught unexpectedly. The attempt to remove the names was made by impersonating them in the Aland constituency. The election applications were submitted online without the knowledge of the real person and the fraud was done through mobile numbers outside Karnataka. This targeted the Congress. 12 votes were deleted by logging in falsely in the name of Alandil Godabai. However, the elderly woman said that she did not do this and did not entrust anyone with it. Rahul displayed the mobile numbers used to delete the votes. He clarified that none of these were from Karnataka and were from many other states. Whose numbers are these? Who gave the OTP number in these? Rahul also revealed that one Suryakant had deleted 12 votes.
Rahul then called Suryakant and people whose votes were deleted to the dais. Suryakant clarified that he had not applied for deletion of votes and had filed a complaint about this. He displayed evidence that a person named Nagaraj deleted two votes in 36 seconds. The deletion of votes is done using software. An automated program was used for this and these were done by call centers. This was planned and carried out.
An investigation is underway in Karnataka. In the past 18 months, the Karnataka CID has sent 18 letters to the election commission. The Karnataka CID has asked for details including the destination ports of the devices that applied for the removal of votes. However, the election commission is not providing this. Why is it not being provided, asked Rahul.
The election commission knows who is removing votes. This is not an isolated incident. This happened in Maharashtra too. 6850 votes were removed from the Rajura constituency. Rahul Gandhi also said that there is evidence of such removal of votes in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
