Had to abandon studies due to COVID, depression; MBBS student commits suicide by jumping from 21st floor

NOIDA: An MBBS student met with a tragic end after he jumped from the balcony of the 21st floor of a building. The deceased has been identified as Mathura native Shiva (29). The incident took place in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Shiva was visiting his sister's residence in Gaur city sector with his parents.

On Monday afternoon, Shiva went to the balcony of the 21st floor and jumped from there. Although he was immediately rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved. The police have not been able to find any suicide note from the flat.

Shiva, who joined the MBBS program at a private college in Delhi in 2015, had to abandon his studies in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. According to the family, Shiva had been experiencing severe mental stress because of this. The body has been shifted to the mortuary. Police have launched a detailed probe to find the reason behind the suicide.
