In a recent interview with Mashable, film director Priyadarshan talked at length about Aditya Dhar's entry into the film world, leaving behind a promising cricket career. Earlier, the ‘Dhurandhar’ director had credited Priyadarshan for teaching him the basics of filmmaking.
“Aditya joined me in 2010, and he was special. He used to write dialogues, and language was his forte. His language was wonderful, and he could thus weave beautiful scenes. His entry into films itself is a story, as Aditya failed to get into the Under-19 team because of some political influence and thus chose the film field instead.
After not making it to the team, a dejected Aditya was sitting at his house when he happened to watch Gardish. The movie changed him, and he immediately decided that his career should be in filmmaking,” said Priyadarshan.
As per a few rumours from Instagram handles, Dhar was a spinner for the Delhi University and was eyeing a place in the Under-19 World Cup 2002. The Instagram handle said that Stuart Binny, son of Roger Binny, was selected over Dhar despite the latter being in great form. This incident is said to have made Dhar decide not to play cricket anymore and turn to filmmaking.
