THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A thief was caught when he was sleeping outside a nearby building after breaking into a school office. Attingal native Vineesh (23) was the thief who got caught because he was sleeping.

The accused entered Attingal CSI School on Friday night to commit a theft. On Saturday morning, when the school security guard came to turn off the lights in various parts of the school, he noticed that the office room was open. The security guard, who saw that the cupboard inside the office room was also open, informed the school authorities and later the police.

The police, who arrived and conducted a search in the school premises, found Vineesh sleeping on the veranda of a nearby building. The police identified Vineesh as the thief during questioning. The thief said that he did not get anything from the cupboard and that he had fallen asleep because he was very tired. The school authorities informed that no money or valuables were lost. However, the police said that money was taken from two palliative care boxes kept near the office cash counter after breaking them, and the handle of the main locker was broken. Vineesh was produced in court and remanded.
