KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode Rural SP KE Baiju said that some people in the police deliberately tried to create trouble. The SP's reaction is to the police attack on MP Shafi Parambil. He said that Shafi Parambil was hit with a lathi from behind and an investigation is underway to find out who did it. The SP clarified that there was no lathi charge in Perambra. He said this at a program of a charitable trust held in Vadakara.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed with the DGP seeking action against three police officers in the police action against MP Shafi Parambil. The Kozhikode Congress leadership has filed a complaint against two DySPs and the police officer who lathi-charged Shafi. The leadership has said that they will intensify the protest by blocking the official residence of the Rural SP if no action is taken.

The Congress has intensified its protests over the incident of Shafi Parambil's injury. Many conflicts have culminated in clashes. Things even went so far as to block the Chief Minister's path in Thrissur. The opposition has received another sharp weapon just as they were preparing to take the agitation on the Sabarimala issue to the streets.

VD Satheesan responded that Shafi Parambil was brutally beaten by CPM criminals and the goons of the Kerala Police, who are in league with them. VD Satheesan clarified that the responsible leaders of the CPM are abusing Shafi and the injured others in abusive language on and off cyberspace, and that none of this can break the fighting spirit.
