KOLLAM: More details have emerged in the shocking death of three people who died after falling into a well in Kottarakkara. The accident occurred when the handrail of an 80-foot-deep well collapsed. The victims have been identified as Archana (33) of Neduvathoor, who jumped into the well, her friend Sivakrishnan (22) and Soni S Kumar (36) of Attingal and an employee of the fire force unit in Kottarakkara, who tried to save her.

Archana's friend Sivakrishnan is reportedly an alcoholic. According to neighbours, Sivakrishnan often engaged in fights with Archana after getting drunk. The two had an argument last night as well. Archana, who was badly beaten up by her partner last night, jumped into the well with the intention of ending her life.

Archana had recorded a video showing the bruises on her face suffered in the attack by Sivakrishnan. It was Sivakrishnan who informed the fire force about Archana jumping into the well. Archana was alive at the time when a fire force unit member got down into the well with the equipment.

While the young woman was being lifted, the handrail of the well broke and fell on them. Sivakrishnan, who was standing nearby, also fell into the well. Sivakrishnan was standing near the well's handrail with a torchlight. Despite being requested by officials to move away from the dangerous spot, Sivakrishnan refused, which led to the tragedy.
