Sabarimala gold theft; Unnikrishnan Potty in custody, being quizzed in secret centre

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Unnikrishnan Potty has been taken into custody in the Sabarimala gold theft case. A special team reached his house and took him into custody. He is being quizzed at a secret centre. There are no reports of his arrest. Unnikrishnan Potty had been questioned by the Devaswom Vigilance several times earlier. He was taken into custody days after the gold theft came to light.

Meantime, the SIT will also question former devaswom commissioner N Vasu in the gold theft case. The devaswom vigilance had found that the gold-plated frame was handed over during Vasu's time, recording it as copper. This was submitted to the high court as a supplementary report. However, N Vasu's response was that the Thiruvabharanam Commissioner was responsible.
