Gold price soars again; increases by Rs 400, touches Rs 94,520 per sovereign

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The price of gold has climbed to a record high in the state again. The price of the yellow metal rose by Rs 400 today. With this, the price of a sovereign is 94,520. The price of a gram rose by Rs 50 to Rs 11,815. This is the fifth consecutive day that gold prices have been breaking records. There was a heavy volatility in the price of gold yesterday.


The price of gold changed thrice yesterday. The price rose by Rs 2400 at 9.20 am touching Rs 94,360. The record price changed twice later. At 12.10 pm, the price dropped by Rs 1,200 and the price was Rs 93,120. The price of a gram reduced by Rs 150 to Rs 11,645. The price of gold in Kerala increased again by Rs 960 taking to Rs 94,120. The price of a gram rose by Rs 120 to reach Rs 11,765.


In the international market, the price of gold was $4,180 per ounce (31.1 grams) in the morning. Later, the price fell to $4,100. With this, the price changed in Kerala as well. The worsening trade relations between China and the United States and the weakness of the dollar are giving strength to gold.
