KOCHI: The family of the student involved in the hijab controversy is waiting for the high court verdict in St Rita's School, Palluruthy, before considering changing school. Thus, it became clear that the child will not be transferred from the school immediately.
The family of the student has been added as a party to the petition filed by the school. The petition will be considered on Friday. The parents have made it clear that they will not send the child to school until then. The family had earlier informed that the child would be transferred from the school immediately.
Anas, the father of the child, said that his daughter has been emotionally affected by the controversy and will not consider attending classes in that school again. The management took the position that the student could continue in school if she gave a consent form to come without a hijab.
In the earlier discussion held with the school management, the child’s parents came to terms with the demand of the management to conform to the school uniform code. However, the parents had a change of stance later in the day, after which they decided to apply for the transfer of the child from the school.
Minister V. Sivankutty had harshly criticised the school management over the incident.
