Mozambique boat accident: Prayers unanswered, body of missing Kollam native found

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of Sreerag Radhakrishnan (35), a native of Thevalakkara, Kollam, who went missing after a boat accident at Beira Port in Mozambique, has been found. NK Premachandran MP stated that the Shipping Director General officials have officially confirmed this matter.

Sreerag and Indrajith Santhosh (22), a native of Piravom, were part of the team involved in the accident. Sreerag, son of Radhakrishna Pillai and Sheela of Naduvilakkara, worked for Scorpio Marine Company's 'Seq Quest' vessel. He had been working in Mozambique for three and a half years. After spending six months in Kerala, he had returned to Mozambique last Monday. He last contacted his family on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at around 3.30 am on October 16 while the crew was travelling by boat to join the ship for duty. Out of 21 crew members, 15 were rescued. Sreerag is survived by his wife Jithu and their two children. Meanwhile, the search continues for Indrajith Santhosh, a mechanical engineer with Scorpio Marine Maritime Management Enterprises Shipping Company. Indrajith, son of Santhosh and Sheena of Edakkattuvayal, had left for Mozambique on October 14. His father also works with the same company, and he has a younger brother, Abhijith.
