BENGALURU: A complaint has been filed against a school principal for beating a nine-year-old boy of Class V. The complaint has been raised against Rakesh Kumar, principal of New St Mary’s Public School on Pipeline Road in Karnataka’s Sunkadakatte. The boy’s mother Divya also filed a complaint against Vijay Kumar, the owner of the school and Chandrika, a teacher of the school. The incident happened on October 14.
The boy was beaten for being absent for two days. The boy was beaten between 4 pm and 5 pm on October 14. The boy’s mother said that she had a filed a complaint the next day itself. Divya said the boy has been studying in the school for the past three years and the fees were paid regularly.
‘Rakesh Kumar beat my son with a plastic PVC pipe. The boy sustained injuries and Chandrika teacher helped in holding the boy when he tried to escape the blows. Vijaya Kumar, the owner of the school was there at the time of the incident. He encouraged the principal to continue the beating. The child suffered physical and mental trauma in this incident.
When questioned the attack, the principal said that this is how they discipline the students and asked her not to interfere in it. The management did not enquire about the boy after the incident. They accused my son of consuming some drugs. Let them subject my son to a medical examination. In order to cover their mistake, they are blaming my son,’ Divya clarified in her complaint.
The police have sent notices to the accused. As the incident happened in the school, it should be brought to the notice of the education department. Her complaint said that her son was locked inside a room and beaten after school time. The police said that a case of cruelty to child under section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000, causing hurt by dangerous weapons (BNS 118(1)) and criminal intimidation (BNS 351(2)) has been registered against the accused.
