'From filming private videos of co-worker to using daughter for settling scores'; Big twist in Delhi acid attack case

NEW DELHI: A woman had filed a police complaint the previous day, alleging that a stalker and two of his friends threw acid on her in revenge for ignoring him. However, a major twist unfolded after police found the complaint to be a sham. In the subsequent investigation, the police arrested her father, Aqeel Khan. It was found that the girl registered the complaint for a fake acid attack on the instructions of her father to trap the youth.

Aqeel Khan admitted that he had deliberately fabricated the acid story to trap the youths. He had tried to trap the youths in retaliation for the harassment complaint filed against Aqeel Khan by the wife of one of the youths. Aqeel also roped in his daughter to be part of his devious plan. He admitted that the burns on his daughter's hands were not from acid, but from toilet cleaner. The girl herself poured the toilet cleaner on her hand as part of the plan.

The woman is a second-year B.Com student at the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board of Delhi University. She had alleged that Jitendra, his friends Ishan and Armaan, attacked her with acid near the college on Sunday. The woman said that Jitendra was riding a motorbike, and Armaan, who was pillion, opened a bottle handed to him by Ishan and threw acid at her. The woman said that she shielded her face using her hands, which resulted in the burns. The girl claimed that Jitendra was stalking her for some time and that the two had a fight a month ago.

But the police noticed inconsistencies in the girl's statements. Investigation revealed that Jitendra was in Karol Bagh at the time of the incident. This was confirmed by Jitendra's mobile location, CCTV footage and witness statements. The motorbike mentioned by the girl was also found parked in Karol Bagh.

The woman and her brother left home on a scooter, but CCTV footage revealed that the brother did not drop her at the main gate of the college, but dropped her 200 metres away in the Ashok Vihar area. Two days before the attack, Jitendra's wife had made a PCR call and complained of Aqeel Khan threatening and harassing her. The woman said that she had worked in Khan's factory from 2021 to 2024. She alleged facing sexual assault from Aqeel and said he even filmed her nude videos and was blackmailing her. Khan has now been arrested by the police based on the woman's complaint. Delhi Police said that a case will be registered against the girl and her father for fabricating a case.
