TVK president issues statement saying government wasted farmers' hard work: Vijay playing politics in AC room, mocks DMK

CHENNAI: The paddy produced by farmers is sprouting and perishing due to the failure of the MK Stalin government to procure paddy, said TVK president Vijay. Vijay has also issued a detailed two-page statement on the government's failure to protect the livelihood of farmers. This is the first time Vijay is making a political statement after the Karur tragedy.

He made a symbolic comparison between the sprouting grains and the growing anti-government sentiment in the state: 'Just as the rice grains sprout and perish in the rain, a wave of anger is rising in the hearts of the people against the anti-farmer DMK regime.' If the government really cared about the farmers, it would have immediately protected the crops for which they had worked hard and taken steps to protect their livelihood. But instead, the government has allowed their hard work to go to waste, Vijay alleged.

TVK leaders are giving hints that Vijay's political journey will resume soon. This statement is a precursor to that. However, in response to Vijay, DMK spokesperson Saravanan responded that it is easy to play politics by making a statement while sitting in an AC room. DMK had earlier clarified on this issue that the government always stands with the farmers and has procured 10.40 lakh metric tonnes of paddy.
