Girl gangraped in Coimbatore, search for three men

CHENNAI: A college student in Tamil Nadu was brutally raped by a three-member gang. The MBA student of a private college near Peelamedu was raped Sundaay night. The girl was talking to her friend in a car in Vrindavan Nagar near the Coimbatore International Airport. At this time, the men on a bike attacked the youth with a sickle and abducted the girl.

They took the girl to an isolated place, raped her and then escaped. In the meantime, the youth informed the police at this time. The girl was finally found naked in an isolated place behind the college, one kilometer from the airport.

The girl was admitted to a private hospital at around 4 am. According to the police, the accused had stolen a two-wheeler from near Kovilpalayam and reached the spot. The police said that seven special teams are being formed to arrest them and that the injured youth has been shifted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, BJP leader K Annamalai has come forward to criticize the DMK government over the incident. He said the incident reflects the government's failure to ensure women's safety. Annamalai also said in an ex-post that he hopes the girl recovers as soon as possible.
