THRISSUR: Malayalam Film Awards Jury Chairman Prakash Raj has mocked the National Awards. Prakash Raj's mockery is based on the fact that Mammootty did not receive any National Awards. Prakash Raj said, 'National Award doesn't deserve Mammootty'. He also criticised that files and piles get the award there. Prakash Raj, the jury chairman, made his criticism at the 2024 Malayalam Film Awards announcement stage.

It was Mammootty who won the Best Actor award at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards. Mammootty once again won the Best Actor state award for his role as Kodumon Potty in the film Bramayugam, directed by Rahul Sadasivan. Prakash Raj's sarcasm came after Minister Saji Cherian announced the award.

The award for Best Actress went to Shamla Hamza for her performance in Feminichi Fatima. The Special Jury Award for Acting went to Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, and actresses Jyotirmayi and Darshana Rajendran. The award for Best Film went to Manjummel Boys.
