NEW DELHI: The investigation into the Red Fort car explosion in Delhi has been widened to include more individuals. The probe will now extend to Javed Ahmad Siddiqui, the founder and managing trustee of Al-Falah University in Faridabad.

Two of the main accused in the blast case- Dr Shaheen Sayeed and Dr Muzammil Shakeel- are faculty members at Al-Falah University. Based on information gathered from their interrogation, the investigation has now expanded to cover the university’s management and higher authorities. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will conduct a separate inquiry into the university’s funding sources.

Police are also looking into Siddiqui's links with a large corporate network. He and an associate had earlier served three years in prison in connection with a Rs 7.5 crore fraud case. The investigation team has said that this case will also be re-examined alongside the blast probe.

However, Mohammed Razi, the university’s legal advisor, denied all allegations against Siddiqui. He also stated that he had no knowledge of Shakeel’s appointment at the university, saying that faculty appointments are handled by the Vice-Chancellor.

Siddiqui is listed as a board member of nine companies associated with the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which oversees the university’s operations. These companies operate in sectors such as education, software, financial services, and energy, but most of them are registered to a single address in Delhi, according to reports.
