
SRINAGAR: The blast at Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir was an accident, said DGP Nalin Prabhat. Nine people, including officers, were killed and 32 were injured in the blast. The Union Home Ministry and Jammu and Kashmir Police have said that speculations in this regard are unnecessary. There were rumors that terrorists were behind the blast at Nowgam police station.
"One person from SIA, three from the FSL team, two crime scene photographers, two revenue officials who were part of the magistrate's team and a tailor associated with the team were killed in the blast. 27 police officials, two revenue officials and three civilians were injured. They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital," said the Jammu and Kashmir DGP.
The blast took place at around 11.20 pm last night. The police station and nearby buildings were badly damaged in the incident. The accident occurred while the police were examining the explosives and chemicals seized from Faridabad. The process of collecting forensic samples had been going on for the last two days.
