KOTTAYAM: Six pilgrims from Karnataka were injured after their vehicle lost control and crashed into a wall on the Mundakayam–Erumeli Sabarimala route. The driver and a pilgrim seated in the front were trapped inside the vehicle and were rescued by locals and police after several hours of effort.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the car transporting the injured to the hospital was also involved in an accident near Amaravathi. It collided with another vehicle carrying pilgrims, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.

The injured were later shifted to the hospital in a different vehicle. Rescue operations were carried out jointly by the Mundakayam police and officials of the Motor Vehicles Department.
