Ambiguity looms as the Supreme Court reserved the final verdict in the 23-year-old case of actress Prathyusha's death. After hearing the arguments from both sides on November 19th, a bench comprising Supreme Court Justices Rajesh Bindal and Manmohan decided to postpone the verdict.
As per reports, the court needs time to carefully peruse the case before reaching a final verdict. The long toiling wait of 23 years of Prathyusha’s family and her fans is expected to end in the coming days.
Career:
A charming dame with a sylphlike physique who debuted in 1988 in the Telugu industry didn’t take much time to gain a spotlight. Prathyusha fell into the rare clique of actresses who could act well and, at the same time, appear in sensual roles too. Prathyusha, known for her unique smile, was expected to walk on the same ropes as superstars Jyothika and Simran, alas, the tragedy.
It was during the peak of her career that Prathyusha fell in love with Siddharth Reddy. Reddy’s family opposed the relationship, and it is reported that the two tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in 2002. Reddy survived while Prathyusha died.
Siddharth was sent to jail for five years for abetment to suicide, but the court reduced the sentence to two years in 2011.
Disappointed with the verdict, Prathyusha’s mother moved the court and argued the case as a premeditated murder. For years, the case has been dragging, and it seems like it has now reached its fag-end.
The case went through fables, anecdotes and many twists. There have also been criticisms of the laxity from the court's side, dragging the case on for 23 years. All eyes are now on the final verdict that is expected in the coming days.
