Death penalty for first accused in murder case of pregnant woman

ALAPPUZHA: The court awarded death sentence to the first accused in the case of murdering a woman and dumping her body in the lake in Kainakary. Prabheesh of Pookkodan House at Muthuthod in Nilambur has been awarded death sentence. The quantum of sentence was pronounced by Alappuzha additional district sessions court. Anitha Sasidharan of Thekkemadom House in Punnapra was jointly murdered by her lover and his woman friend on July 9 in 2021.

The court had found the first and second accused Prabheesh and Rajani of Pathisseri House in Kainakary, guilty in the case. Anitha, married and mother of two was murdered by Prabheesh and Rajani. The brutal murder came to light in an investigation conducted after an unidentified body was found in the lake near Pallathuruthy.
