The shocking incident in which a young actress was brutally assaulted inside a moving vehicle in Kochi had left Malayalees deeply disturbed. The investigation later revealed the involvement of several well-known figures. Now, director Alleppey Ashraf has spoken about a few things that happened in the actress’s life after the assault. He revealed these details on his YouTube channel.
“Malayalees were shocked when the case of the actress who was assaulted in Kochi came out. It shattered the public image of many superstars whom people admired. However, many women from the industry came forward to support the actress. AMMA, the organisation of Malayalam actors, which she thought would protect her, distanced itself from her. That was when she left the organisation in tears. Along with her, actresses like Padmapriya, Revathy, Rima Kallingal, Ramya Nambeesan, and Parvathy Thiruvothu also walked out," Ashraf said.
“Upon hearing about the incident, Late PT Thomas rushed to the actress. It was because of him that the incident came to light. PT Thomas was the one who asked her to file a complaint. If someone else had been in his place, maybe the world would never have known about the case. At that time, PT Thomas suggested that the actress inform her fiancé about what had happened and then ask for his permission to proceed legally. Her fiancé said she must take legal action and that the accused should not be spared,” he said
“At the time of the incident, the actress was among the highest-paid stars in Malayalam cinema and was also rising in popularity in other film industries. Reports say she requested the accused to spare her and said she would give them whatever money they wanted. However, they were not after money. They allegedly told her they wanted to record the assault on video, or they would drug her and expose her to others. Following the incident, she stepped away from Malayalam films for five years. The actress has also shared that during this period she often shut herself in a room and cried, and only after letting out her emotions would she slowly regain the strength to carry on,” he added.
