Stuffed cloth into mouth; 64-year-old man arrested for attempting to sexually assault 94-year-old woman

PATHANAMTHITTA: A 64-year-old man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 94-year-old woman has been arrested by the police. The accused, Pathrose John- also known as Jose- from Vadasserikkara was taken into custody by the Perunad Police. He had reportedly observed that the elderly woman was alone at home and used that opportunity to commit the crime.

According to the police, he stuffed a cloth into the woman’s mouth to prevent her from making noise and then attempted to assault her. However, during the struggle, the woman managed to pull the cloth out and started screaming. Hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to the spot, but the accused fled before they arrived. The locals immediately informed the police. Based on the woman’s statement, the police soon tracked down and arrested the accused.
