‘Pulsar Suni and Dileep know each other'; new complication in actor assault case

KOCHI: A new complication for actor Dileep in the case of sexually assaulting an actress in a moving car. Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the case and the eighth accused Dileep know each other, said Pratheesh Kurup, lawyer of the former told media. He added that he has informed this to the trial court. Dileep said that he does not know Pulsar Suni, but the latter has rejected it. However, Dileep is of the stand that he has no acquaintance with Pulsar Suni.

The verdict in the case will be pronounced tomorrow, eight and a half years after the incident. The verdict will be delivered by Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M Varghese. Pulsar Suni is the first accused. There are ten accused including Dileep. The actress was attacked on the evening of February 17, 2017, when she was coming to Kochi from Thrissur for shooting. Martin Antony, B Manikandan, V P Vijeesh, Vadival Salim (H Salim), Pradeep and Charlie Thomas are the accused from two to seven. Mestri Sanilan (Sanil Kumar) is the ninth accused. Dileep's friend VIP Sarath alias Sarath Nair was also named as an accused in the second chargesheet.

Dileep was arrested on July 10, 2017, but was granted bail with strict conditions on October 3. Pulsar Suni, who had been in jail for a long time, was granted bail by the Supreme Court in September 2024. The trial began on March 8, 2018. The charges against Dileep include gang rape, insulting womanhood, wrongful detention, use of force, destruction of evidence, taking and distributing obscene pictures.
