Helped Rahul Mamkootathil go into hiding; two arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested two people who helped MLA Rahul Mamkootathil to go into hiding in the sexual harassment case. Jose and Rex, who helped Rahul to go into hiding in Bengaluru, have been arrested. Police say they are the ones who brought Rahul to Bengaluru from his hideout in Bagalur on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. The police have also seized the Fortuner car they used to escape. They were arrested and released after questioning.

Rahul Mamkootathil is still absconding. The Crime Branch has appointed a new investigation team to find Rahul. The new move is based on the conclusion that investigative information from the first team is being leaked to Rahul. Rahul went into hiding after a case was registered in the first complaint. Initial information received was that he was hiding in Bengaluru.

Rahul has been very skilful in escaping from the police for the last 11 days. The police have concluded that many prominent people have helped Rahul. Rahul had left Palakkad as soon as the victim approached the Chief Minister with a complaint last Thursday. The journey was made avoiding roads with CCTV cameras as much as possible.

Rahul Mamkootathil reached Pollachi in the red Polo car of his friend, a young actress. From there, he took another car to Coimbatore. From there, he went to the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. Rahul, who had been hiding in a resort in Bangalore since Sunday, left here in the morning after learning that the investigation team was coming. He had later moved to a house in Bangalore.
