THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty has said that it is an insult to democracy for a person who was in a high police position and was responsible for enforcing the law to publicly challenge the election code of conduct.

"The fact that BJP candidate from Sasthamangalam ward R Sreelekha shared the survey results in favour of the NDA on Facebook in connection with the voting is a blatant violation of the election rules. It is surprising that someone who has been responsible for upholding and implementing the law throughout her official life has stooped to this level for political gain.

Such moves aimed at influencing and misleading voters are born out of fear of failure. Those who are coming forward with fake figures and unauthorised surveys are those who fear the continuity of development in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation."

"The public must realize that those who are supposed to uphold the rule of law and democratic values are trying to subvert them. The State Election Commission should immediately take strong action against this violation of the code of conduct," the minister demanded.
