
KOCHI: Alan, friend of Chitrapriya, has been arrested in connection with her murder in Malayattoor. He was arrested after he confessed to the crime. He told them that he killed her by hitting her head with a stone after a fight. The CCTV visuals turned crucial in the case.
The police had got the CCTV footage of Chitrapriya going with Alan on his bike. The visuals were captured at 1.53 am on Sunday. The girl was pillion riding on Alan’s bike. There were two others on another bike with them. Soon after getting the girl’s missing complaint, the police examined the CCTV footage, summoned Alan and questioned him. He first told police that he dropped her in the area. The police then released him. When her body was found, Alan was called again. However, his statements were contradictory. When he was grilled more, he confessed to the murder.
Chitrapriya (19) is daughter of Shaiju and Shini of Mundangamattom in Malayattoor. She was an aviation student in Bengaluru. The girl left home saying that she was going to a nearby shop. Her family lodged a missing complaint with the Kalady police after she did not return home even after a long time. The girl went missing on Saturday. Her body was found in a rubber plantation at around 2.30 pm yesterday. The body was found in a search conducted by the police after locals reported of a foul smell coming from the plantation.
