PALAKKAD: Despite a 21-hour search by the locals and police, six-year-old Suhan, who went missing from Chittoor on Saturday, could not be found. His body was found floating in the middle of the pond 800 meters away from his house Sunday morning. The body was first seen by the locals who searched the area around the pond.
However, even though the pond is adjacent to the road, the boy would not have come 800 meters away from his house. The police and locals had been searching until midnight. Although all the ponds near the boy's house were searched, the pond where the body was found was not searched. Everyone says that since he was not a child who would leave the house, he would not have gone so far.
The body of the boy was recovered from the pond by the Civil Defense team and the Fire Force. Chittoor- Thathamangalam Municipality chairman Sumesh Achuthan said that there is something unnatural about the child's death. There is no possibility of falling into this pond while walking. There is a canal next to the road and a small bank beyond it. There is only a small footpath to reach this area.
The dog squad had reached only 100 meters beyond this pond yesterday. The locals also rule out the possibility of falling into the pond. Could reach the water only by going down. People had come to this pond last evening also to bathe.
The child went missing around 12 noon yesterday. Relatives said Suhan fought with his brother while playing in the courtyard and then left the house. As it was just a normal fight between children, a search was launched only after the child was not seen after some time. Suhan, a student of Royal Public School, suffers from epilepsy. Suhan's father is abroad and will be reaching soon and his mother is a teacher at Nilgiri Public School. When the child went missing, she was in the school.
