SIVAGIRI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Sree Narayana Guru is the true Vishwaguru who showed to the world humanity and brotherhood beyond caste and religious thoughts. Guru imparted the glory of a vision to save the entire world. The Chief Minister was inaugurating the 93rd Sivagiri Pilgrimage Conference.
Guru's message of 'Fraternity' has even found a place in the preamble of our Constitution. Guru's concept of humanity is also a panacea that can find solutions to any conflicts and disasters the world is facing. The Sivagiri pilgrimage, which is being carried out in the sunlight that Guru imparted for the creation of modern Kerala, has a great impact on social progress. The Aruvippuram consecration was a rebellion of the oppressed against the exercise of power by Brahminism, feudalism and imperialism. This is how the Kerala Renaissance began at the end of the 19th century.
Guru knew that freedom could not be achieved without challenging the predicament created by the stone walls of caste distinction. Caste was not only a social system at that time but also a vile legal system. Even the punishments for violations of the law had a hierarchical relationship with the caste structure. If an upper caste man beat a lower caste man to death, there was no punishment for the upper caste man. The punishment was torture and death if it were the other way around. Caste was an instrument of oppression. In short, caste was the state itself.
It was in such a time that the Guru dreamed of a model state that would rule without caste, religious hatred, and brotherhood. The Chief Minister said that this is a message of free will, freedom and social unity, where no one exercises power over anyone.
Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust President Swami Sachidananda presided over the function. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was the guest of honour. Minister VN Vasavan, SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan, K.C. Venugopal MP were the chief guests. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust General Secretary Swami Shubhangananda gave the welcome speech and Treasurer Swami Sharadananda proposed a vote of thanks.
