Accident near Technopark: man dead after car hits jeep in Kazhakkoottam; two injured

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One person died after a speeding car hit the back of a jeep that had turned off on the elevated highway after running out of diesel. The deceased is Arun Gopal (34), son of Manoharan and Srilatha, a couple living in Thirkannapuram. Arun Gopal's friends Sujith (41) and Nawab were injured.

The accident occurred near Technopark at around 5 am yesterday. The jeep was going from Akkulam to Attingal. The car hit the jeep hard, causing the jeep to overturn on the road. Arun Gopal and his friends Sujith and Nawab, who were in the jeep, fell onto the road due to the impact. They were immediately taken to the hospital, but Arun's life could not be saved.

Arun, who runs a hotel business, had gone to Varkala for a business-related need. The injured Sujith is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit in an unconscious state. Police said that Nawab was injured but not seriously. The family in the car suffered minor injuries. The Kazhakkoottam police have registered a case against the car driver for reckless driving.
