NEW DELHI: The inaugural route of the country's first Vande Bharat sleeper train service was announced by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Vande Bharat sleeper will begin its foray on the Guwahati-Kolkata route. Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a press conference today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train within 15-20 days. Minister confirmed that the Vande Bharat sleeper service is heading towards its initial run after completing several successful trials.

"Testing and certification of the Vande Bharat sleeper train have been completed. The first proposed route is Guwahati - Kolkata. The Vande Bharat Sleeper will offer world-class amenities, enhanced safety and a modern travel experience for long-haul overnight journeys. The new service will not only benefit business travellers but also families, students and tourists who want faster and more reliable overnight travel between the two major cities," the minister said.
