Malayalees consumed Rs 125 crore worth of liquor on New Year's Eve; first and second place to these outlets

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayalees consumed liquor worth Rs 125.64 crore on the eve of the New Year. This is the figure for sales in outlets and warehouses on December 31. The Beverages Corporation had an additional sale of Rs 16.93 crore compared to the previous New Year. The sales on December 31, 2024 were Rs 108.71 crore.

Kadavanthra outlet is the only crorepati in sales. Liquor worth Rs 1.17 crore was sold here. Palarivattam is in second place (95.09 lakh) and Edappal is in third place (82.86 lakh). Thodupuzha Kanjikuzhi outlet is at the bottom in sales. It is reported that only Rs 4.61 lakh was sold here. 2.07 lakh cases of foreign liquor, beer and wine were sold on this New Year's Eve. This was 1.84 lakh cases on December 31 last year.

BEVCO has so far sold liquor worth Rs 15,717.88 crore this financial year (2025-26). In the last financial year (2024-25) till December 31, the sales were Rs 14,765.09 crore.

There was a record achievement in liquor sales during the last Onam. Liquor worth Rs 826.38 crore was sold in the ten days of Onam. This was an increase of Rs 50 crore over the previous year. Six outlets had a turnover of more than Rs 1 crore. The previous year, liquor worth Rs 776 crore was sold during Onam.
