KOZHIKODE: A woman is continuing a one-person protest in front of her husband’s house at Feroke in Kozhikode. The protester is Haseena, a native of Chelari, along with her son, who is a Class 3 student. She is protesting against her husband for allegedly divorcing her without any valid reason.

Haseena and her son reached her husband’s house in Feroke with a family court order allowing her to live with her husband. However, she found that her husband and his family had locked the house and moved elsewhere. As a result, Haseena and her son have been staying on the veranda of the house for the past one week.

Haseena said she had returned to her parental home six months ago after separating from her husband. Later, her husband, Fazil, allegedly pronounced talaq and ended the marriage without justification. She also claimed that he has since married another woman.

Eight days ago, the family court issued an order permitting Haseena to live with Fazil. Following this, she went to his house, only to find it locked. She alleged that her husband had started creating problems, citing her skin colour and lack of education. Haseena also said that 50 sovereigns of gold were given as dowry at the time of marriage, out of which 42 sovereigns are still with her husband.

Haseena demanded that if her husband is unwilling to accept her back, he should return the gold that was given to him as dowry.
