MALAPPURAM: Muslim League state president Panakkad Sadikali Shihab Thangal told the media that they will ask for more seats in the assembly elections.
"The Muslim League has made great progress in the local elections in the districts beyond Thrissur. The activists and leadership want to get more seats accordingly. The current seats are concentrated in Malabar. The Muslim League had contested earlier in South Kerala. If the League gets more seats, the number of seats for women will also increase proportionately. New faces and those with experience will be included in the list of candidates. It cannot be said now that all the sitting MLAs will contest. The candidates will be announced earlier. The cadres want some seats to be swapped. This will be put forward in the discussion. The possibility of victory should be considered in the swap of seats. Kunhalikutty himself will lead the party. The front has no connection with the Welfare Party, but it will not say no to the vote. The Congress should decide who the chief ministerial candidate should be. The League has no opinion on it. The UDF will come to power by winning 100 seats."
"Front expansion is not just a need of the League, it is desired by all the constituent parties. Efforts will continue to bring the Jose K. Mani faction to the front. The policy is that the League does not need to react to the responses of SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan. There is no need to discuss with Vellappally. Vellappally does not need to correct the League. The League is a party of tolerance and coexistence. Differences of opinion should not lead to communal divisions," said Sadikhali Thangal.
