NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of seven accused in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud case. The seven were members of the board of directors of Karuvannur Cooperative Bank between 2001 and 2011 and had approached the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail. The bench headed by Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah denied the bail.

The petitioners had pointed out that there was no financial loss to the depositors during their tenure, nor had they interfered in any policy matters. However, the court made it clear that anticipatory bail could not be granted. The investigation team had submitted the role of the petitioners in the case to the court.
