THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major irregularity has been found in the state lottery welfare fund board. It has been found that an employee of the board has embezzled Rs 14.93 crore from the welfare fund amount of lottery agents. The irregularity was found in the special audit report. The audit report found that the fraud happened from 2013 to 2020.

It has been found that Sangeeth, a clerk in the welfare fund board, embezzled crores. The welfare fund amount of the lottery agents was transferred to the accounts of Sangeeth and his relative instead of being deposited in the board's bank account. The audit report also states that Sangeeth had forged documents to avoid being caught in the annual audit. Lottery agents pay their monthly share to the welfare fund board. The employee embezzled the amount from this.
