KASARGOD: Where will the votes of Abdul Nazar Madami-led PDP, which has a strong influence in poll-bound Manjeswaram, go this time? This is a million dollar question haunting LDF, UDF as well as NDA.

It is rumoured that the PDP workers, who voted in favour of the UDF’s Rajmohan Unnithan during the Lok Sabha election, will take a different stand this time.

In Kerala politics, Madani had taken a pro-Left stand but the PDP council meeting this time could not arrive at a decision on whether to continue that stand or not.

PDP State representative Basheer Kunjathore told Kerala Kaumudi that the party stand will be declared by Madani from Bangalore within two days, after considering the general mood in the constituency.

In 2006 and 2011, the PDP’s support was for LDF. In 2016, though Basheer was in the fray, the party chairman had nullified his candidature.

In the district panchayat election, PDP had garnered 6800 votes even after going it alone in Vorkkadi, Kumbala, Uppala divisions.

In Mangalpadi and Manjeswaram grama panchayats, PDP has one member each. Areas such as Manjeshswaram, Hosankadi, Puthige, Posottu, Arikkadi, Bambrona and Muliyadukkam are where PDP has its own votes.
