CHERTHALA: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan did not disown NSS or General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair over the latter backing out from an earlier proposed strategic alliance. Vellappally made his stand clear at the SN Trust special general meeting.

Vellappally Natesan:

“There is no worry. If not today, there will be an alliance between the two Hindu groups in the future. It is just a matter of time. Both communities follow the same beliefs and rituals in Hinduism and are of the same blood. The effort for unity was not for political purposes. It was not an election stunt. Sukumaran Nair, who is basically innocent and selfless, initially supported the alliance. Anyways, we accept the decision taken by the NSS board of directors.

When the muslim league and the opposition leader targeted me, it was Sukumaran Nair who came to my aid. When Thushar Vellappally was given the responsibility of the alliance, Sukuamran Nair remarked that he would treat Thushar like his own son. The Nair-Ezhava unity movement has left some political leaders unsettled. You don't have to go all the way to Pazhoor Padippura to understand how unity was broken. Vellappally also suggested that community members should not reject Sukumaran Nair or the NSS.”
